My Story

Succesfully completed! Thank you all so much for your help and donations along the way. It was hard going but just about made it round in one piece, and in good enough shape for a few more pints at the end.

Massive thank you to all of the pubs and The Stone Inn Hayton in particular who raised an amazing £170 over the weekend. To Joe and Ross for running some of the legs and everyone who stopped off to say hello along the way, and to my lovely wife Michelle who cycled the whole way with me, even when the battery on her e-bike ran out!

An amazing amount of money to have raised for such a special charity, thank you all so much!

26.2 miles, 8 local pubs, at least 8 pints

On 23rd May I'm going to try to run a marathon between 8 pubs enjoying a pint in each in support of Team Evie.

Please consider donating or if you fancy joining for a few miles or a few pints the details and approximate timings are below!

...................................................................................................................................................

Good friends Ross, Natalie, their eldest daughter Zara and daft dog Vinnie welcomed twins Lucy and Amber into the world in May 2024.

Their first weeks were not easy and the support Team Evie were able to offer was of so much help.

Lucy and Amber will have just celebrated their second birthday by the time of my attempt.

I hope to raise money for Team Evie to allow them to help more families in difficult times.

Natalie has previously raised money for charity through a bake sale. I’m rubbish at baking but over the last few years have completed marathons and ultramarathons so thought it best to lean on my (questionable) ability to continue pottering when absolutely knackered.

Of the remaining running-related side quests, the beer marathon is one of the most appealing to me, for obvious reasons.

Having carried out extensive research (half a dozen YouTube videos) I have begun to appreciate how difficult this is likely to be. The marathon distance alone is a challenge, with 8 pints of liquid and the effects of alcohol to contend with even more so.

Please give generously.

...................................................................................................................................................

Start time and approximate distances below if anyone fancies joining for support along the way! Will aim for around an hour for each leg, give or take, sociable pace and easy drinking, hopefully starting the final three miles between 7 and 8pm.

I am supporting Team Evie because I want to make a difference to the lives of sick children and their families. The charity provides support for families from the time they first find out their child may be ill, often in pregnancy, through time in hospital, looking after their child at home, and with support for bereaved parents.

There are so many ways that Team Evie help families, with Peer Support, portable libraries, parent bags, sensory equipment, medical machines, comfort items, physiotherapy kit, hampers at Christmas and Easter, staff training, Special Baby Groups, and more!

If you are able to sponsor me to help Team Evie continue their amazing work I would really appreciate it! Thank you in advance from Team Evie, and the families you will help by supporting my event!
